CASEing the CATTY 136 – Artistic Expression

Hello form Fi at the Magenta Tiger,

This week we’re CASEing from the Artistic Expressions section of the Annual Catalogue. This section has some beautiful samples to gain inspiration from. I’ve chosen to ‘CASE’ the Berry Burst Box on page 152: I’ve changed up the colours and the stamp set.

Since the new Catalogue was launched, I’ve noticed that I’ve been neglecting most of the Stampin’ Up!® Colours … actually all the colours except the new In Colours! Sweet Sugarplum is starring today (with Berry Burst – I can’t help but use it!)

Here is my box:

Sweet Sugarplum, Berry Burst and Smoky Slate co-ordinate so beautifully!

CASEing the Catty 136 -Artistic Expressions

I created a little box with 4 matching cards to give as a gift. The dimensions of the box are 11.5cm x 11.5cm x 1.5cm. I used the Envelope Punch Board and The Crafty Owls’s Box Buster. This tool is amazing, it’ll help you make boxes of all sizes and shapes. I inputed the below dimensions then followed the instructions on the website to get my box …

Box Depth: 110mm

Box Width: 110mm

Box Height: 15mm

This is what my box looked like before I decorated it, folded it and glued it together with Fast Fuse.

I cut out the lattice from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies in Berry Burst Card Stock. I’ve stamped ‘A Little Thanks’ in Berry Burst on Whisper White Ink then punch out the label with the Classic Label Punch.

I’ve stamped leaves (Smoky Slate) and crosses (Berry Burst) directly on the Whisper White Card Stock  and I’ve stamped the flower (Sweet Sugarplum) directly on the piece of Vellum. The Diecut Flower is from the Eclectic Layers Framelits in Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock.

I made 4 matching cards with different sentiments: Happy Birthday  (Sunshine Sayings Stamp Set) and A Little Thanks (One Big Meaning Stamp Set). This box is going to be a handy present for someone.

We’d love you to share your creations on our Facebook Page

Keep hopping along … next up is a gorgeous creation by Kelly Kent.

Happy crafting, Love Fi xxx

CASEing the Catty 135 – Thanks

Hello, it’s Fi from the Magenta Tiger,

I’m super excited because I’ve joined the CASEing the Catty Design Team. I’ve been playing along with the Sunday Challenge for a while now because the  Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues are filled with beautiful samples and inspiration. I’m very lucky to be creating alongside some extremely talented women.

For my first ‘CASE’ as Design Team Member, I’ve taken inspiration from ‘Stepped Up’ card on page 129. I love the three ‘stepped up’ versions of the cards in Blushing Bride.

For my card, I decided to use two other Stampin’ Up!® colours:             Berry Burst and Dapper Denim.

CASEing the Catty 135 – Thanks

Here is my creation:

HOW DID I MAKE THIS CARD?

Card Base:

  • Thick Whisper White Card Stock, I’ve put the Front though the Big Shot in the New Polka Dots Basic Embossing Folder.

Card Detail:

  • I’ve punched out 6 circles using the  1″, 3/4″ and 1/2″ Circle Punches in Dapper Denim & Berry Burst Card Stock.
  • The Berry Burst Medallion was created using one of the Eastern Medallions Thinlits and a large Circle from the Layering Circles Framelits
  • I used the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch to cut out a Circle of Dapper Denim Card Stock
  • Sentiment: ‘Thank You’ from the One Big Meaning Stamp Set. I’ve stamped this sentiment on Whisper white Card Stock in Dapper Denim Ink then punch it out with the 2″ Circle Punch.

Ribbons, Trim and Embellishments:

  • I’ve folded in half 26 cm’s of the co-ordinating Dapper Denim 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Twisted and messily added Silver metallic Thread
  • 3 Large White Sequins – attached with Glue Dots cut into smaller portions

Join us on our Facebook Page to share your creations and entry the weekly Challenge.

Thanks Chick!

Hello from The Magenta Tiger,

I’m back in business! I’ve been suffering from a severe bout of ‘crafters block’ … this lack of creativity has been driving me crazy! But alas, ‘CASEING THE CATTY Challenge 119‘ to the rescue! This weeks challenge is inspired by the Sale-a-bration Catalogue, pages 16-19. I’ve chosen to stamp with my ‘Hey, Chick’ Stamp Set.

I’ve cased the ‘Thanks’ card at the top right hand corner of page 16.

I’ve watercolored my Chicken with unconventional colours: Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo with a hint of Copper. This Chicken is a SUPER cutie-pie!

Here is my card :

HOW DID I MAKE THIS CARD?

  • Card Base: Rich Razzlebery Cardstock (15.0 cm x 21.0cm)
  • Layer 1: Sweet Sugarplum Yardstick (9.2cm x 13.0cm )
    • Run though the Big Shot in my most favourite Textured Embossing Folder ‘Large Polka Dot’
    • Wrapped Copper Thread around the cardstock 9 times horizontally
  • Square 1: Watercolour Paper 2 – 5/8″ ‘Stitched’ Square cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits
  • Square 2: Rich Razzleberry Cardstock  2 – 3/8″ Square from the layering Squares Framelits
  • Square 3: Watercolour Paper 2 – 1/8″ ‘Stitched’ Square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits
    • I prepared the paper with the embossing buddy. It prevents extra embossing powder from sticking to the paper
    • I’ve stamped the chicken in Versamark Ink,  added Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated with the Heat Tool
    • I’ve watercolored the Chicken in unconventional colours: Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo. The Grass is Cucumber Crush and Delightful Dijon.
  • Sentiment: ‘THANKS’ from the ‘One Big Meaning’ Stamp Set.
    • I used my Stamp-a-ma Jig and a post-it note as I only wanted to use the ‘thanks’ from the Stamp ‘one tiny word with one big meaning, thanks’.
    • Prepped with the embossing buddy and stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink,  added Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated with the Heat Tool
    • Banner: Right end punched with the Banner Triple Punch, Left end cut with one of the Square Stitched Shapes
  • Glue: Assemble with the Adhesive of your Choice: Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots or Fast Fuse

Thank You Wreath

Hello from the Magenta Tiger,

image

This week the ‘CASEing the Catty’ Crew are showcasing Christmas inspiration featured in the  New  Stampin’ Up! ® Annual Catalogue (pages 26-37) – CASEing The Catty 82. My entry this week for the monthy challenge is inspired by the gorgeous Christmas Wreath Card on page 32 (without the Christmas theme).

Annual16_p032_a-183 copy

“>
My card base is a piece of Shimmer White Cardstock (11.5cm x 22cm ) folded in half. I’ve embossed a piece of Crumb Cake (10.5 cm x 10.5cm) with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder then dabbed a little Crumb Cake ink over the card stock with a Sponge Dauber.

image

I’ve stamped the wreath from the Circle of Spring Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Ink onto Shimmer White Cardstock. Shimmer White Cardstock or Watercolour Paper are the best surfaces for Watercoloring. I’ve watercolored the flowers in Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty flamingo and Peekaboo Peach with my Aqua Painter. and the leaves in Mint Macaron. The Wreath has been cut out in the Big Shot using the Wreath dies from the Wonderous Wreath Framelits. This framelit created the Christmas Wreath on page 32. The Peekaboo Peach bow was stamped and then cut out using this same Fraemlits set.

image

The Crumb Cake banner was created using the Banners Framelits. My ‘Thank-you’ sentiment is from the Circle of Spring stamp set and has been stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. I’ve added a Gold Metallic Enamel Circle and some 1/4″ Gold Natural Trim for a little sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by, Love Fiona xxx

A Stampin’ Up!® Selection

Hello from the Magenta Tiger,

Today was the Official Launch of the New Annual Stamping’ Up!® Catalogue 2016-2017!

2016-annual-catalog_eng

There are some amazing goodies that I’m really excited to showcase. I’ve created a selection of projects showcasing some new and some returning goodies. Bumblebees, Copper Emboss Powder, Layering Square Framelits and the five new In-Colours for 2016-2018 are just a few!

hello bumblebee

image

I totally fell in love with the Bumblebee in the ‘Pun Intended’ stamp set, as soon as I saw it.  I think it’s going to feature in many more of my creations. My bumblebees were stamped with Versamark and Black Emboss Powder to create shine and texture. I’ve  watercoloured them with Daffodil Delight in (body = intense, wings = lightly) and then added Clear Wink of Stella  on the wings for a little sparkle.

image

I ran the Daffodil Delight Cardstock though the Big Shot in the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder. The squares were then cut out using with the 1″ square in the Layering Squares Framelits.  These are going to come in super handy! The ‘Hello’ sentiment is from the Hello You Thinlits. I’ve lightly watercoloured with Daffodil Delight ink and Clear Wink of Stella. I’ve added Gold Metallic Thread in diagonals across the cardstock for an extra embellishment and I lifted the bumblebees off the page with dimensionals to make them look like they are buzzing above the paper.

image

 lady-bird tags

image

My Kraft Paper Gift Bag was created using the Stampin’ Up!® Gift Bag Punch Board. I’ve only used one image in this project, the ‘Ladybugs’ from the Love You Lots Stamp Set. I stamped the ladybugs in Crumb Cake all over the Kraft Paper and coloured the bodies with Clear Wink of Stella. Super cute and super effective!

On the front of my Gift Bag I’ve draped the 1cm Ruched Ribbon in all 5 of the 2016-2018 In Colors : Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugar Plum, Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach and Dapper Denim as well as Silver Sequin Trim. The front ladybird has been watercolour in Crumb Cake and punch out with the 1″ Circle Punch.

image

I’ve created 15 Tags (3 of each of the 2016-2018 In-Colors) to pop in the Gift Bag. The Tag was punched with the 2″ Circle Punch and hole by the Scalloped Tag Topper. I’ve threaded the Ruched Ribbon through the hole and stapled it securely with the Handheld Stapler. I’ve watercolored the Ladybirds in the 2016-2018 In-Color Inks and punched the circle with the 1″ Circle Punch. I’ve used a Clothespin (coloured in with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Marker.

Thank-You Blooms

There are some projects you start and have no idea what the end result wiIl be, I was in this situation with this card. I started by Heat Embossing the big ‘Bloom’ from the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set on Shimmery White cardstock. The outline of the bloom stands when embossed when the image is watercoloured with my aqua painters. I’ve watercolored the bloom with predominantly with Sweet Sugarplum and a little Flirty Flamingo inks. The leaves are Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron. I’ve added a little Clear wink of Stella over the bloom for that extra glimmer.

image

My ‘Thank-you’ sentiment and border are from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set (Heat embossed in Gold). I’ve used Gorgeous Grunge (THANK-YOU Stampin’ Up!® for continuing this amazing stamp set!) in two ways to create the background of my card. Firstly Gold Heat Embossed dots and Crumb Cake stamped dots. A little Sweet Sugarplum Rushed Ribbon and some Gold metallic thread to finish the card off!

image

sassy birthdays

image

You’ve gotta love a ‘shaker’ card. The metallic sequins  happily move around inside the card. The Designer Series Paper I have used is Pop of Pink: featuring Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Gold Foil.

I’ve started by cutting out the overlapping hearts in the DSP with 2 hearts from the New Sweet and Sassy Framelits Set. I’ve then cut the Melon Mambo hearts to go around the cut outs with the same size and one size up. I’ve then added Clear Wink of Stella for a little shimmer. I’ve attached a window sheet to the back of the DSP. I’ve attached the new Adhesive Foam Strips to the window sheets then filled the hole with Assorted Metallic Sequins.

image

I’ve then attached the Whisper White DSP with Gold foil strips to the foam strips. The card front is completed! The card front was then attached to Basic Black cardstock. My ‘Birthday wishes’ sentiment has been stamped with versa mark and Melon Mambo ink then heat embossed with clear powder. The Melon Mambo and Basic Black banner ends were created with the Banner Triple Punch.

Bermuda Bay Baby Box

image

This versatile and handy little box was created using the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits. I’ve texture embossed the Bermuda Bay cardstock with the Lucky Stars embossing folder to give me the stars pattern. I’ve added Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim and 1/8″ Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon for a little draped detail. I’ve double stamped the stripy ‘Wondersuit’  and the ‘Made with Love’ sentiment from the Made with Love Stamp Set. I’ve stamped the 1st image in Versamark  and the 2nd image with Veramark & Bermuda Bay ink. I’ve then added clear emboss powder and heat embossed. The ‘Wondersuit’ is cut out with the matching Framelit from Baby’s First framelits. The ‘Made with Love’ sentiment was punched out using the 1″ Circle Punch.

Andrew and I spend some time in London recently. We spent a day exploring Greenwich, visiting Cutty Sark. (British Clipper Ship) This is my favourite photo from that trip.

I haven’t loved any Stamping’ Up!® paper more than the Affectionately Yours DSP. My background paper has the most magnificent  floral Copper Foil pattern, just devine!  The ‘love’ sentiment I used is from the Watercolour Words Stamp Set and has been Heat Embossed with the Copper Emboss Powder. I’ve also heat embossed  some Pansys from then Flower Shop stamp set with the Copper emboss powder.

Thanks for stopping by. I’ve enjoyed creating some gorgeous new projects with my new goodies. I look forward to seeing you all at my Stampin’ Up! Catalogue Launch in a couple of weeks.
